I turn into a baking fool right around Christmas, and this year I plan on getting my 2.5 year old little girl involved. She loves to help in the kitchen already, so I'm sure cookie baking will be right up her alley ;-)
Happy Holidays! Win a Boba!
I just love spending time with family. We haven't really followed many holiday traditions since my brothers and I left college, but we always find time to just be together during the season. I think that is the most important part, anyways.
Our favorite tradition is to get a White Pine Christmas tree. I grew up across the road from the White Pines State Park in Illinois, and no other pine tree feels right, so we hunt one down every year and it's become a family tradition even for the members of my family that didn't grow up there (read: everybody but me! ha!)
Our tradition growing up was to open one present one Christmas Eve. Yes, I will for sure continue it with my kids. so much fun!!!
My favorite tradition is baking Christmas cookies. I used to do this with my mom and siblings growing up and I will continue to do it with my daughter. She's 16 months old now so she's more into eating cookies for now!
This year has been somewhat void of traditions but I bet the baby won't mind since she's not quite 10 months old. We have a lead dust issue in our home so I put off decorating so we could work on major cleaning instead. Pretty not holiday-like.. But oh well. I think the tradition that I would like to start is doing handmade Christmas activities. I didn't do this as a child but I would love for my children to grow up with that experience. We're actually not going to be doing the whole Santa thing with our kiddos.
My favorite tradition is family dinner and opening presents on Christmas eve with husband's family. They are from Chile and this is a tradition they brought here with them.
My favorite tradition, up until this year, has been watching White Christmas while baking cookies with my mom. This year, I'm all about making our own traditions to carry on with the little man. Still trying to figure those out, but I'm sure it will revolve around the kitchen. We're a food loving house.
My fav tradition is the one we do with my parents: we all get new jammies to wear for christmas :) That was we all look nice for pictures when we unwrap gifts. My parents started the tradition when I was a baby & now that I have a baby we will get to pass it on to her :D This year we (my mom & dad, brother, me & hubby) will have black shirts with gray camo pants & squiggle-worm will have pink camo sleeping gown :)
My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the house with lights then walking around the neighborhood with the dogs looking at all the other outdoor lights. Me and my son started doing this last year but this year he is able to really appreciate it and it has become so much more fun.

Every year we let our older kids put their name in a hat, dad picks a name and they get to pick our CHRISTmas tree! The next year their name is not in the hat, that way everyone gets a chance. Whoever picks the tree gets to start the first cut as well. I do the lights, kids do the bulbs & decorations while dad plays with the little one. After all he and the older kids hung all of the outside lights. CHRISTmas eve we watch The nativity story, then in the morning we eat donuts, I read about the birth of Jesus then its present time!
My mother is a church organist and I'm a singer, so Christmas Eve is always crazy-busy for us. But once church is done, we have a glass of sherry and watch "It's a Wonderful Life." We cry at the same parts every year.
When I was pregnant with my daughter, my husband and I started to read "The Gift of the Magi" by O. Henry on Christmas Eve. I read up until the end of the story when he has to take over because I cry too hard to finish. This is something I hope our daughter remembers fondly as she gets older.
As a child we would open one Christmas present on Christmas Eve before going to bed. Normally was new PJs, before then while living in Puerto Rico we where sent to bed really early and then woken up sometime in the evening to open all the presents Santa (grandparents, aunts, and uncles) brought.
We have yet to decide what we want to do for the twins.
We grew up (my husband and I) in a country where celebrating Christmas was forbidden :-O so we did not have any holiday traditions :-(
Now living in another country we're very happy to start making our own traditions as a new family, starting with the tree and the stockings and of course the presents! So looking forward to this Christmas with the little guy!! :-)
We would open our stocking before we ate breakfast and we would always read the night before Christmas on Christmas eve. once our little girl is old enough we will continue this tradition with her. She is just a newborn right now
My favorite holiday tradition is opening stockings with the entire family on Christmas morning, before we eat breakfast. :) We're already continuing it with our children.
Every year my Mom would let me stay home from school to do Christmas baking with her...whipped shortbread, butter tarts, macaroons, fruit cake...mmmmm. Our 2 yr old boy loves baking already! As soon as I say let's make something, off he goes to pull his chair up to the counter. He measures, pours, mixes, and the best part of all, gets to lick the beaters when we are finished! Tomorrow it is gingerbread santas!
My favorite Christmas tradition is that DH and I each pick out an ornament for each other (and next Christmas we will picking one out for baby Max). The ornament is wrapped and put under the tree till Christmas Eve in which we open it and put our new ornament on the tree. I have an ornament from every year I've been alive and definitely plan on doing this with our child.
We do not yet have a Christmas tradition but we are currently talking through some ideas so that we can create a tradition for our girls.
Every year we listen to the Night Before Christmas that my father recorded for my kids since he lives so far away.
My favourite holiday tradition is one that my husband and I started, wine and cheese on Christmas eve!
We are still working on making our own family traditions. But we ALWAYS bake cookies on Christmas Eve for "Santa." ;)
Our favorite tradition was making gingerbread men cookies, decorating them and then my sisters and I delivering them to people in the neighborhood! We'd fill our baskets with our cookies and would always come home with more cookies than we started with :) People always wanted to give us cookies too. It was a lot of fun. I hope when my son is older, we can start this tradition with him.
Our favorite tradition, I think, was cutting out and decorating cookies while we sang along with the Muppets' Christmas Album or Peter, Paul & Mary or The Carpenters... Certainly intend to continue this--last year I was decorating cookies while I was in labor!
Our favorite holiday tradition is to go to balboa island and walk around and look at all of the beautiful lights on all the wonderful homes and boats. We will defintley continue this with our children!!
our first lil man will be just shy of a month old on christmas.. hoping to start traditions this year that can be continued throughout his childhood
My mom and I would bake and bake and bake every Christmas! We had so many kinds of cookies and candy! We would wrap them up and give them to family and friends! Now that we live so far apart that doesn't happen, but I hope to continue the tradition with my kids as soon as they are big enough!
My favorite holiday tradition with my family is the underwear and socks gift. we get it every year! I will be doing this with my own baby when she is big enough. we also started our own tradition of Christmas Jammies, to be opened and worn on christmas eve!
My husband and I are figuring out our traditions as a family. So far, my favorites are that we choose one present for the baby together from Santa, and then we each get one for him that is a surprise to each other. We live in an Italian neighborhood, and I also love visiting all our neighbors on Christmas Eve. We share Italian cookies and apertifs. I look forward to that every year.
My holiday tradition as a child was to open up a present on christmas eve which always contained PJs and a game the family could play together. We would leave cookies and milk for Santa, and in the morning some of the cookies and milk would be gone. Also, we could not open presents until we had a family breakfast. I do plan on continuing these traditions as well as celebrating the true meaning of Christmas before opening presents by reading a verse from the Bible or the Story of Jesus birth. I haven't decided quite yet, but I do want to celebrate Jesus birth more than we did as children
My favorite holiday tradition as a child was baking cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve with my parents and brothers. I plan to continue that tradition once my baby is old enough.
My favorite tradition was reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" at my grandparents house. Every year a different grandchild got to read it. I can't wait to read it this year with our son for his first Christmas.
We have numerous traditions, but one of my favorites is doing a countdown chain/advent calendar with the family. The kids enjoy the variety of activities and it encourages us to spend quality time together in the evenings.
My favourite 'tradition' is drinking egg nog and watching White Christmas! I do it every year. It's my special time.
One of my FAVORITE holiday traditions growing up was going to the 11 PM candle light service at church. It just always seem so magical to me. LO is only 6 months old so I doubt she could make it to 11 PM (well she probably could if I let her! HA. I hope to be able to carry on this tradition as we continue to grow as a family.
I like taking the family driving around on Christmas Eve looking at the lights people have put up. I doubt we'll do it this year with an active toddler, but maybe when he gets a bit older.
My favorite holiday tradition is gathering around the tree on Christmas Eve and reading the Christmas story from the Bible. As kids we each got to open one present, usually an ornament that my mom had picked out for us. With my kids we let them open one gift as well, but for the last few years I've been giving them a new pair of jammies.
My favorite Holiday tradition is breakfast on Christmas morning. Fresh baked cinnamon bums and homemade hot chocolate!
